Key Concepts

This page defines the core terms you will encounter throughout Tedro. Understanding these concepts helps you navigate the platform and follow the documentation.

Organization

The top-level account container. An organization owns billing, team members, and one or more workspaces. When you sign up, Tedro creates your first organization automatically.

Workspace

An operational environment within an organization. Each workspace contains its own channels, contacts, conversations, workflows, agents, and settings. Think of workspaces as separate clients or business units that operate independently under one organization.

Channel

A connected messaging platform. Tedro supports four channel types: WhatsApp, Instagram DMs, Facebook Messenger, and Live Chat. Each channel has its own connection setup, messaging rules, and capabilities.

Contact

A person who has communicated through any connected channel. Contacts are identified by their channel-specific identifier — phone number for WhatsApp, account ID for Instagram and Messenger, session for Live Chat. Contacts can have tags, custom fields, and belong to groups.

Conversation

An ongoing message thread between a contact and your team or agents on a specific channel. Conversations have statuses (open, handoff, closed) and can be assigned to team members.

Workflow

A visual automation built in the workflow builder. Workflows consist of connected nodes — triggers, AI agents, logic branches, messaging actions, and more. Each workflow has a mutable draft for editing and immutable published versions for execution.

Run

A single execution of a published workflow. Runs are triggered when a contact sends a message that matches a workflow trigger. Every node execution is logged as a step, giving you full visibility into what happened and why.

Agent

An AI-powered assistant configured with a personality (system prompt and model), knowledge base (documents and links), and actions (tools like web search, HTTP requests, and MCP). Agents handle conversations autonomously within workflows.
